About
The greatest classically trained actor to have ever lived. Valedictorian of RADA in the year of our Lord in 1998.
Jamie Johnson brings his comedy character Josiah D’Monologue to the stage to make any room laugh. Josiah doesn’t realise he’s a failed actor and does his damnedest to educate his audience and other comedians he performs with of the true art of performance. It’s fair to say that his observations don’t necessarily go down well or make a great deal of sense to the Great British Unwashed.
Demonstrating how Shakespeare can be used to educate children in the prevention of substance abuse and simultaneously making Keats accessible to an urban audience – or at least that’s his attention.
If you want to spice up your comedy night – then bring in this character act to educate and amuse your audience.
Backstory
Jamie served in the Royal Air Force for 9 years – but admits that he was polluted by the Royal Navy when he served at Yeovilton… Something he is still trying to recover from. Serving as an Avionics Technician, he naturally fell into nerd culture and enjoys enabling his character to bring that to the stage.
Transitioning to civilian life after the RAF wasn’t as easy as Jamie originally thought and found it challenging to find value in his life while not wearing uniform any more.
Whilst gainfully employed, he realised that he needed a creative outlet to build his self-confidence, self-worth and enhance his communications skills. He also realised that he needed an outlet to manage his OCD and battle his struggles with Imposter Syndrome.
Benefits of doing stand up
Performing on the stand up comedy circuit has enabled Jamie to not only book himself into various job interviews – but ace them…! Standing on a comedy stage makes presenting yourself in a positive light to potential employers a breeze.
Service life is all about camaraderie and companionship – and with stand up and Project COMEDY he has gained a multitude of new friends and supporters as well as have the regular backing of the other acts in the Project COMEDY stable.
Jamie says:
"Since starting my comedy journey I’ve learnt ways to become comfortable being uncomfortable. Hence it’s enabled me to build my self-confidence and engage with the civilian world in a positive, constructive and humorous manner.
I’d encourage any service veteran to learn the skills of stand up comedy and maybe give it a go on the circuit. You’d be staggered by the rewards it gives you – even if you don’t take a set to the stage."
